Energis Approves New
Cabling Standard From Greenwoods - 12th September 2002

 Greenwoods
Communications, the UK's leading independent provider of telecoms
infrastructure services, has announced that its new cabling standard,
RA8000, has been approved by Energis. Energis, a leading telecommunications
and internet solutions provider, has tested the cables for performance
and reliability and will use the RA8000 as an integral part of its
future installation projects within its data centres.
The RA8000 solution has been developed by Greenwoods in association
with Raydex CDT to enable network operators and OEMs to maximise the
use of the limited space available in their crowded switch rooms,
distribution frames and equipment racks. While the 'footprint' of
other telecoms equipment has got smaller, cable density has until
now remained the same. The RA8000 is 40% smaller than other cables,
yet still provides the same high level of technical performance as
the de facto standard cable, BT3002.
"We were very impressed
with the performance levels of the RA8000," said Dave Newbold, director
of operations at Energis. " RA8000 takes up less than half the space
of traditional cables, which dramatically increases underfloor capacity.
This innovation has persuaded us to use RA8000 cables for future cabling
activities."
