Greenwoods Upgrades
Network For Large Broadcasting Company
| |
|
 |
| Greenwoods Communications
is currently working on a high profile project for a large
broadcasting company. Working for an international carrier,
Greenwoods is required to install and commission four
ADM's (Add/drop Multiplexers) on a 2Mbit/s access Network
at strategic points. This will create additional capacity
at known bottle-necks on the Access Network. |

The
work is being carried out at four individual sites in London. Three
out of the four ADM's have already been installed and commissioned
and once the fourth has been completed, they will be integrated into
the carriers network and the ADM's will be fitted into 19" racks.
As part of a rationalisation of the network, equipment is being taken
from one site and placed at another so the traffic can 'migrate' whilst
causing the least amount of disruption to the service. This process
of network rationalisation has recently become popular with carriers',
due to the drive to maximise the efficiency of their existing equipment.
Once equipment has been successfully installed, Greenwoods will also
provide test and commissioning expertise fulfilling the end-to-end
service requirement.
The entire project is being overseen by Greenwoods account manager,
Mark Hodson and project manager, Jim Kafetzis. Recently recruited,
Jim has extensive experience in such projects, having worked as a
project manager on this carriers network since its inception. When
asked about the project he commented: "My extensive previous
experience with this carrier stood Greenwoods in good stead for a
high profile project such as this. Greenwoods has the knowledge and
the capabilities, it's just a case of getting our 'foot in the door'.
This particular carrier is the preferred network for this broadcasting
company and the successful completion of this project will pave the
way for future business". |
