Partnership Formed
To Service Major 3G Operator
| |
|
 |
| Greenwoods Communications
has formed a partnership with a large telecommunications
engineering company to service a major 3G mobile operator.
The project requires that Greenwoods fulfils all material
and logistical requirements over a period of two years. |

The
relationship began when Greenwoods won an order with the telecommunications
engineering company who was already a prime subcontractor to the mobile
operator. The order, which was completed in April 2002, was for 1000
cable assemblies to be installed at Node B base stations throughout
the United Kingdom. These particular cable assemblies interconnect
power, data and alarm functions and are manufactured by Greenwoods’
sister company TPT (Telecom Protection Technologies). A further order
for another 1000 cable assemblies has just been processed, these will
also be installed in the United Kingdom.
Due
to the successful supply of requested materials, Greenwoods was invited
to commence a partnership with the subcontractor. Aside from the supply
of cable assemblies, Greenwoods is providing materials as diverse
as ariel rigging (transmission mast for networks), racks and patch
panels. Greenwoods is also offering logistical support, co-ordinated
deliveries are made as required for specific projects. The subcontractor
has a significant task ahead, having to build, test and install 600
3G base stations over the next three months. Many of the sites have
unique requirements and it was imperative that a partner was chosen
who could provide continued support and had a reputation for sustained
‘on time’ deliveries. John Rogers, product manager commented:
“Our recent partnership with this telecoms engineering company
is an excellent example of ‘vertical and horizontal integration’.
We were able to fill a gap in the chain to great effect benefiting
all involved. This 3G rollout is currently only happening in the UK,
but there are plans to continue into Europe in 2003 and due to this
newly formed partnership, this is something in which Greenwoods shall
also take part." |
