eGreenwoods is an online consumables ordering portal that is helping telecoms network operators reduce their operating expenditure (OPEX) by increasing the efficiency of their field maintenance operations.


The Problem

Orange employs over 250 engineers who operate nationwide, building and maintaining the Orange network and infrastructure. Obtaining consumables in a fast and hassle free way is vital to reducing downtime and completing projects within a specified time frame. Ordering consumables can sometimes cause costs to spiral due to little control and lack of visibility.

To improve control and efficiency of ordering, Orange required a system that would assist the consolidation of their stores from six to one. To facilitate this, a single source for supply was required that would be faster, more controllable and ultimately create a less complex supply chain.


The Solution

Orange engineers can now order much needed consumables through online portal eGreenwoods in a timely and cost effective manner. The system offers access to over 7,000 products; complete with images and data sheets giving engineers quick access to information.

Individual user logins are provided to specific Orange engineers giving access to Company specific information and approved products and pricing. Customer approval structures are created and managed online, with order confirmations e-mailed to users and approvers, thus offering visibility to management on costs and consumable usage. Customer specific reference fields are associated with orders as well as the ability to report and manage costs accurately.

The new service has reduced the number of incorrect consumables being ordered as engineers can now see the exact specification of the products they are ordering online, reducing delays to maintenance work. The freedom to order consumables they require whilst onsite, and the fact orders can be tracked to the point of delivery, has also reduced possible delays to work.
